Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up quickly, so we’re sharing the low-key ways that we plan to celebrate. Since St. Patrick’s Day and Easter are both in March this month (and since the girls are still pretty young) we have a book, green outfit, and will be eating all things green day-of, as well as a few little crafts. Jury is still out on if the Leprechaun will visit our house and we will set up little traps or a house for him in the future, but for right now we’re keeping it simple!

We love doing paper and painting crafts, but also have a short attention span so oftentimes I’ll lay out several options and we’ll just go for it! This year we were really feeling the rainbows, but never quite got around to making a pot of gold.

  • We had two four leaf clover paint stamp options: using twisted up pipe cleaners or some of our leftover heart sponges from Valentine’s Day
  • We used Sophia’s little feet and green paint to create a shamrock on a canvas!
    • *MOM TIP* One way we avoid choosing between the guilt of throwing away their artwork or being stuck with hundreds of canvases is letting them paint it a solid color at the end of the day/craft and you have a solid background for the next art project!
  • We made tissue paper rainbows two ways: using liquid glue to draw the lines of the rainbow and stick the colored paper to them or drawing a rainbow outline in marker and then filling it with the paper and a glue stick
  • While admittedly not my best work at drawing a four leaf clover, I used a scrap piece of paper and cut one out, taped it to another piece of paper and let Layla paint over top of it with a sponge brush for some pull away art!

I’ve linked the board book we’ve been reading this week to lead up to the holiday (there are several of these books for other holidays like Valentine’s Day or Easter)! Also linked to the image below is this super cute waffle maker that we have – it’s a one stop shop for making waffle designs for several holidays and occasions, including a four leaf clover for St. Patrick’s Day. It makes mini waffles perfect for little hands and if you purchase from these affiliate links I’ll earn a mall commission at no cost to you:

And that’s it! Low cost, low stress and a few easy ways to celebrate with our babies that everyone can enjoy! Catch us on the hunt for four leaf clovers this weekend, since it feels like the first glimpse of spring is coming through. Comment below, I’d love to hear how you’re celebrating!
